Super Hummus Bros.
27 Oct
Today’s London restaurant adventure is thanks to my friend Els. This morning I got up, got ready, and sat in front of my computer, asking the sweet Baby Jesus to give me inspiration as to where to have vegan food on this rainy London day.
Into my Twitter feed popped this little prayer-answering Tweet:
What’s this? Awesome staff? Awesome food?! I’m there! Y’all know how I feel about hummus anyway. (Don’t you? I love it. A bit too much, actually.) I hopped a couple trains and arrived at the Hummus Bros location in Soho. (With this song in my head the ENTIRE TIME.)
You order at the counter, where the bros scurry to assemble your meal and bring it out to you. It was seriously fast too. I hadn’t even gotten myself settled and my tray was there. Nice.
Buddy behind the counter was extremely knowledgeable about what of their menu was suitable for vegans. He even made sure to mention the honey added to one of their drinks! Very well done, HB! Nothing makes me feel better about eating out someplace as a vegan than a well-educated staff.
When there is more than one vegan option on a menu I have a special way of deciding. My tried and true tactic of forcing the staff to choose my meal for me hasn’t failed me yet, and it didn’t today. Mr. Man said the hummus with fava beans was his favourite choice on the menu, so that’s what we went with.
They line a bowl with their freshly made hummus and fill it with the topping of your choice. In my case, it was fava beans.
They give you warm pita bread with which to scoop and attack your hummus plate. Delicious.
Eat with pita for a scrumptious hummus lunchus.
The mint & ginger lemonade I ordered knocked my socks off! I could’ve done with much more.
The space itself was nice. Clean, relaxed and comfortable. I didn’t take too many pictures of non-food items as to not completely creep on my fellow eaters, so here’s a photo of a tube of Christmas lights hanging in the window to look at instead.
I like the sense of humour this place has. Just my speed. (But my blog’s real, arseholes.)
They have delivery too.
This was a great meal on a not-so-great London afternoon. A hummus plate is perfect for a rainy, sunny or snowy day, so I recommend you go check out Hummus Bros as soon as you can. With three London locations, you don’t have an excuse not to…unless you’re not in London. Shut up.

I didn’t much like my trip to this restaurant. It is hard to say why but overall the food didn’t grab me. Hope you got more enjoyment out of it than I did.
I’m still undecided about HBros. I don’t rate their hummus that much and the pita bread is weird. The fava beans are incredible though and you MUST try their grilled eggplant from the side dishes menu… amazing! I still go if I’m hungry and can’t find anything else nearby.
I fully expect you to bring me to every single vegan restaurant we did not discover together and, frig it, all of the ones we did, when I return, which I will, and I LOVE THE SONG YOU HAD IN YOUR HEAD THE ENTIRE TIME. That made me laugh a lot.
I miss youuuu
