A couple of weeks ago my friend and I went to Vantra Organic in Soho and we were not very impressed by our experience. This post is not to tell you not to go there, but to tell you why we won’t ever again.
I have avoided writing this post for so long because negativity is not really my bag, but here we are. Let’s do this. (more…)

A Canadian, three Italians, and a Polish girl walk into an all-vegan Chinese restaurant in North London. Sounds like the set up to an awesome joke, eh? Well, it’s not. It was how dinner started last night with a few friends at the Loving Hut in Archway.
My vegan coworker, Fib, swung by work on her day off yesterday with a crew of vegan Italians in tow. They were heading out for Chinese food and, since I was almost finished my shift, invited me to come along. All-vegan Chinese with mock meat options for days? Hell. Yes. (more…)

As if eating together for six hours straight at the West Midlands Vegan Festival wasn’t enough, when we got back to the city Fat Gay Vegan, Josh (his handsome man) and I went for dinner at 222 Veggie Vegan. FGV has talked in the past about how 222 VV was one of his favourite spots in London and I have been keen to try it. (more…)

Today’s London restaurant adventure is thanks to my friend Els. This morning I got up, got ready, and sat in front of my computer, asking the sweet Baby Jesus to give me inspiration as to where to have vegan food on this rainy London day.
Into my Twitter feed popped this little prayer-answering Tweet:
What’s this? Awesome staff? Awesome food?! I’m there! Y’all know how I feel about hummus anyway. (Don’t you? I love it. A bit too much, actually.) I hopped a couple trains and arrived at the Hummus Bros location in Soho. (With this song in my head the ENTIRE TIME.) (more…)

It’s not always easy being vegan in a non-vegan world. In this post I will not cry you a river about never being able to eat in social situations, blah blah. This post is about the amazing and heartwarming times you find omnivorous restaurants that are willing to go out of their way to ensure you get a delicious vegan meal in their non-vegan setting. Here are some stories about places like that. (more…)

Last night was the second London Vegan Drinks. AND I WAS THERE!
This wonderful social event was put together by your favourite fat, gay vegan and mine, @FatGayVegan! This man has done more for the vegan community in London than I have available words to type on about it. From potlucks to drinking nights to promoting vegan products and restaurants to just being generally awesome, he’s kicking ass and taking names across this great city. Just let me tell you, his efforts are widely appreciated in our community. (more…)

I can’t stay away from Loving Hut. Before Kaleigh and Jimmy left to return to Canada we hit up the completely vegan fast food joint in Camden Town again. They serve non-fast food too, but we’re not talking about that right now.
The first time we went we had our socks blown off. This time was no different. If anything, this time the shoes went too. (more…)

DISCLAIMER: This is not one of my best pieces of work. There are two reasons for this. a) I met a British, vegan Twitter friend for the first time the night of this dinner and was a bit excited and not very focussed on blogging. b) I was tipsy, as he had just introduced this Canadian to alcoholic cider (guuurl!).
James (said British, vegan Twitter buddy) and I had talked about an all-you-can-eat vegetarian Indian buffet in London a few months ago and I was keen to give it a go. I had never really had much exposure to Indian food and I figured that since I now live in a predominantly Indian neighbourhood, I should probably get up on it. (more…)
