Super Hummus Bros.

Humm Yes!

Today’s London restaurant adventure is thanks to my friend Els. This morning I got up, got ready, and sat in front of my computer, asking the sweet Baby Jesus to give me inspiration as to where to have vegan food on this rainy London day.

Into my Twitter feed popped this little prayer-answering Tweet:

What’s this? Awesome staff? Awesome food?! I’m there! Y’all know how I feel about hummus anyway. (Don’t you? I love it. A bit too much, actually.) I hopped a couple trains and arrived at the Hummus Bros location in Soho. (With this song in my head the ENTIRE TIME.) (more…)

Sometimes Ideas Are Better In My Mind

Done and Done

This post is in honour of the home city of my heart, Halifax. Just this evening it was announced that our Halifax shipyard has been awarded a $25 Billion contract to build new ships for the Canadian military. I can only imagine the parties that are springing up across the city right now. And across the whole country, really. (We have a lot of boys that had to go away to find work. Maybe we can get some of you home now, eh?) I wish I could be there with you tonight, my friends. The only thing I can do from here is drink with you in spirit (check) and blog about my last lunch EVER in Halifax. I know, a touching tribute.

My very last day in Nova Scotia (as in, I was flying out that night) saw me packing, running my friends out to the airport for their flight ahead of mine, and tracking down rogue vegan foods/ingredients that I feared (correctly) I wouldn’t be able to find over in the UK.

We were out at Pete’s Frootique (ironically, a British grocer) and I found my sought-after ingredients and I bought a couple things to make one last honkin’ sandwich before flying away. Here’s what went down. (more…)

An Awesome Day

Love

For the past three years I have worked at a leading health insurance company and it has been wonderful. I love my company and I am crazy about my coworkers. This is my last week working with them because in a week and a half I will be hopping across the pond to live in London. I will miss my company terribly; it just happens to be on the wrong continent.

Whenever we have something to celebrate in the sales department we always, always have a “food day” (potluck). These food days are the perfect way to share recipes, show off cooking skillz, and socialise. We love ‘em! (more…)

It’s All Greek To Me

Today was the first day of my sales team conference. We’re holding it at a swank hotel. The kitchen there made a vegan meal for me at lunchtime. Put cho hands up for an iceberg lettuce salad and bowl of fruit! It was definitely better than just water.

We just finished a corporate dinner at Opa!, a Greek restaurant. When I checked out their menu online a couple weeks ago, my options were limited. And by “limited”, I mean hummus. (more…)
