Share the Love: London Vegan Potluck 7

Kitchen

I covered this month’s London Vegan Potluck 7 in a guest post for Fat Gay Vegan’s blog. Here is that post, but with more on the fandango that was cooking a facking casserole in East London and transporting it on the Tube to Central London during rush hour. Oy vey. (more…)

What’s the Punch Line?

Peking Boo

A Canadian, three Italians, and a Polish girl walk into an all-vegan Chinese restaurant in North London. Sounds like the set up to an awesome joke, eh? Well, it’s not. It was how dinner started last night with a few friends at the Loving Hut in Archway.

My vegan coworker, Fib, swung by work on her day off yesterday with a crew of vegan Italians in tow. They were heading out for Chinese food and, since I was almost finished my shift, invited me to come along. All-vegan Chinese with mock meat options for days? Hell. Yes. (more…)

London Vegan Drinks 2.0

Dranks

Last night was the second London Vegan Drinks. AND I WAS THERE!

This wonderful social event was put together by your favourite fat, gay vegan and mine, @FatGayVegan! This man has done more for the vegan community in London than I have available words to type on about it. From potlucks to drinking nights to promoting vegan products and restaurants to just being generally awesome, he’s kicking ass and taking names across this great city. Just let me tell you, his efforts are widely appreciated in our community. (more…)

On the Lock

I can’t stay away from Loving Hut. Before Kaleigh and Jimmy left to return to Canada we hit up the completely vegan fast food joint in Camden Town again. They serve non-fast food too, but we’re not talking about that right now.

The first time we went we had our socks blown off. This time was no different. If anything, this time the shoes went too. (more…)

Have a Bite

I fell in love in Camden Town this week. No, not with some goth/punk/hipster man. With a fully-vegan restaurant called Loving Hut.

The other day Kaleigh, who is vegetarian, and I wanted nothing more than something greasy to wrap our teeth around. A big burger or the like. We looked through a horribly outdated organic-n-veggie-in-London book that I bought the other day, found most of those greasy spoon options listed to be closed, and stumbled upon Loving Hut. We hopped the first train to Camden and positively frolicked to Plender Street. (more…)

Who’s Leon?

14 Oct

Shiny

Whenever I see/hear the name “Leon” I can only think of one thing, and it always, always comes into my head, without fail. Remember the show Home Improvement? Of course you do. Tool Time? Come on, stay with me here. There was an episode during which one of the boys (Mark, I believe) was in a Christmas concert. He and three other boys each held a sign with a letter on it and at one point in the concert were supposed to hold them up to spell “N-O-E-L”. They frigged it up and had the order of the signs backwards. Tim looked up and asked, “Who’s Leon?”

When we were down in Soho the other day and decided to eat at the restaurant Leon, that was what immediately popped into my head. (more…)

Safe with SAF

10 Oct

STOP! Burger Time.

If you ever find yourself on Kensington High Street and you realise you’re overdue for a meal, never fear! Not only is there a Whole Foods with ample vegan selections, but one floor above is SAF Restaurant Kensington.

I thought “SAF” was a stupid name until I got there and discovered that it stands for “Simply Authentic Food”. That makes sense, I suppose. (more…)

A Vegan on the Loose in London

V-CROSS!

Today was a mad day in Londontown! It would have fulfilled any vegan’s dream. Well, this vegan’s dream, anyway. And it’s finally coming true!!! AHABSFHJNSLGNLSA!!!!!!! Now that I’m a London girl, I can explore its vegan community as much and as sloooowly as I want. That hasn’t quite settled in yet (as illustrated below). Aaaanyway, it’s now waaayyyy past midnight in jolly old England, so let’s recap this day swiftly. (more…)
